Beaumont Hospital Nursing Research Access Committee
The Nursing Research Access Committee functions as a standing sub-committee of Beaumont Hospital Ethics (Medical Research) Committee. It reviews low-risk applications involving questionnaires or interviews where the research participants are nursing staff. This sub-committee has the capacity to review four applications of this type per meeting only. It may state at any time that an application is not of sufficient standard and warrants a resubmission to the sub-committee. It may also state at any time that the application raises ethical issues which warrant discussion at a full main committee meeting. Should this occur, the application will be tabled for review at the next main committee meeting.
- All applications to undertake research in Beaumont Hospital, whether from nursing or other disciplines, should be submitted for ethical review to the Beaumont Hospital Ethics (Medical Research) Committee.
- All applications to undertake research involving Beaumont Hospital patients, whether from nursing or other disciplines, are required to name a Beaumont Hospital consultant as co-investigator on the application form.
- All applications to undertake research in Beaumont Hospital for the purposes of attaining an educational qualification, whether from nursing or other disciplines, are required to name the student's academic supervisor as co-investigator on the application form.
